The Daily Express covers a paper by the Free Enterprise Group calling out the welfare system on its benefits for the youth, such as Jobseeker’s Allowance, the elderly, such as free TV and bus pass. The report mainly criticizes that pensioners with final salary pensions of £50,000 and over should not be given benefits such as free TV licenses. Member of the Group Chris Skidmore argues, “No one would disagree that pensioners who have worked hard and saved in order to secure their retirement are to be praised, not penalised” and that the welfare system was meant to be a “safety net and not a ‘way of life.”” he said.
