Mark Littlewood, director-general of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), writes an article for City AM promoting a party conference hosted by the IEA and the Free Enterprise Group. In the conference, the Free Enterprise Group produces a manifesto that stands on key issues the Conservative Party should adopt looking forward to the 2015 elections. Some of the points outlined in the menifesto are: to urge reducing taxes on small businesses to encourage growth, resolve the problem of air capacity, and introduce a 30-hour week local community job for the unemployed. The director-general states how “Today’s manifesto suggestions by the Free Enterprise Group show there are some Conservatives who wish their party to position itself in just this way. Their ideas should be challenged, refined, welcomed and applauded.”
