In a new paper released today, Plan E: Preparing for Euro Exit, Kwasi Kwarteng MP, Elizabeth Truss MP, George Eustice MP and David Ruffley MP, argue that as the possibility of ‘Eurogeddon’ becomes increasingly real, we need to consider how Britain’s economic strategy should respond to the short term shock and the need to avoid the danger of increasing unemployment.
In this document, we propose an alternative, a plan E for Eurogeddon. First, we look at the short term measures the UK should take to protect its economy and the Government’s deficit strategy. But beyond these reactive measures, we also look at how we could return to growth and restore competitiveness to the UK economy. The failure of the Euro is no longer a remote possibility, but increasingly a very real prospect. Britain should be prepared.
